This story is inspired by real events that took place

during the final years of Julius Caesar's reign.

PART 7 : THE Sentence

Summary of the previous part: King Pharnaces II sent his entire army against Julius Caesar's army.

The first to attack were war chariots equipped with scythes on their wheels to sever the legs and wound soldiers. But they failed to break through the Roman lines and retreated.

Immediately, Julius Caesar reformed his defensive lines to face Pharnaces II's cavalry and infantry.

These famous words of Caesar were spoken in the Roman Senate to express the ease with which he had overcome his opponent.

Epilogue: Subsequently, Pharnaces II fled across the Black Sea. He was killed shortly afterward in an engagement against the naval forces of his Greek enemy, Asander, while attempting to force a passage to return to his kingdom on the Bosporus.

Once the ruler was dead, Caesar imposed his peace terms on the region. Pharnaces' kingdom was given to Mithridates of Pergamon as a reward for his strategic assistance during the Alexandrian War.

As for the Romans, Caesar ensured that veterans returned to Italy to be rewarded for their years of service. The Galatian legion was sent back to Deiotarus of Galatia and left as a Roman garrison.
