PART 6 : The War chariots of Pharnace II

Summary of the previous part: Pharnaces II's army has been facing Julius Caesar's army for four days. At dawn on the fifth day, just as the Romans were about to begin constructing a fortified camp, Pharnaces II launched an all-out frontal assault against the Roman positions, with a charge of his war chariots followed by his infantry and cavalry.
Julius Caesar immediately realized that Pharnaces II had made a huge mistake by sending his entire army against them. The Romans, positioned on a hilltop, would have the significant advantage of fighting downhill. Julius Caesar had anticipated this attack by employing military maneuvers and positioning his first line of defense in the cuneum formate formation, a maneuver in which the troops are arranged in a triangular shape.
The Battle of Zela was about to begin.
