Summary of the previous part: Arsinoe, Pharaoh's sister, has just freed him thanks to numerous Egyptian soldiers who have stormed the Palace. Leaving with her brother, she gave the order to kill all the Romans inside the Palace and to execute Julius Caesar.
Warned by his guards that legionaries have died in the Palace and that Pharaoh has disappeared, Julius Caesar decides to flee. In a garden, he encounters the Roman General Paulus Forticus, who informs him that the Egyptians are everywhere in the Palace. There is only one possible exit: the gate in the Palace enclosure.
With about twenty legionaries, Julius Caesar has managed to approach this gate undetected. He and his men are now preparing to attack the Egyptian defenders guarding it.
