Summary of the previous part: The battle began between Julius Caesar's troops and the Egyptian general Achillas. 

 Julius Caesar realized that Achillas' army was smaller than his own.  

The Egyptians had concentrated their forces on the center of the first Roman line of defense. 

Julius Caesar decided to execute a forfex, a Roman military maneuver also known as "the pincer movement," by sending his legionaries to the extremities of the lines to close in on the Egyptians...
