This story is inspired by true events that took place during the Gallic Wars between Julius Caesar and the Gallic leader Vercingetorix.

Part 7: CAESAR'S TRICK

Summary of the previous part: Following the Gallic attack against both camps, which resulted in a huge number of deaths on the Roman side, Julius Caesar decided to retaliate immediately: He had a "battering-ram tower" built to take him to the gate of the Oppidum of Gergovia to demonstrate his strength, and then retreat.

At the same time, Julius Caesar disguised Roman cavalrymen as Gallic cavalrymen to make it appear that they were coming to help the Gauls after the Romans' retreat.

Thus, the Gauls would open wide their gates of the Oppidum, believing they were welcoming Gallic reinforcements...

Caesar's trick is launched...
