This story is inspired by true events that took place during the Gallic Wars between Julius Caesar and the Gallic leader Vercingetorix.

Summary of the previous part: The Gauls are attacking the two Roman camps located in front of Gergovia.

To protect themselves from the Gauls' mobile ballistae that are setting fire to their camps, the Romans have attempted a sortie to neutralize them. Believing they are outnumbered and that the Aedui cavalry is their ally, they attempt to repel the Gauls.

But to their surprise, the arriving Aedui cavalry attacked the Romans from behind...

Indeed, their leader, Litaviccos, had, an hour earlier, on a plain far from Gergovia, told Julius Caesar, who had traveled there in person, that some of the Aedui were no longer allies of Rome.

Litaviccos and his horsemen immediately galloped to Gergovia to assist Vercingetorix in his attack on the Roman camps...
