Summary of the previous part: The two Roman camps in front of Gergovia are attacked by the Gauls.

Despite the Roman catapults and ballistae, the Gauls manage to set fire to tents in the main camp and a ballista in the forward camp.

General Dominicus, who is in the forward camp, decides to send his soldiers to neutralize a nearby Gallic ballista before the entire camp catches fire.
