This story is inspired by real events that took place 

during the final years of Julius Caesar's reign.

PART 1 : PREPARATIONS

Recap of the previous episode: Julius Caesar succeeded in defeating King Pharnaces II, who had attempted to retake territories his father had lost a few years earlier. 

During the battle near the city of Zela—in what is now northeastern Turkey—the Romans were briefly taken by surprise by the King's scythed chariots. However, Julius Caesar’s combat tactics enabled them to defeat the enemy.

 

  While fleeing, Pharnaces II came face-to-face with his Greek enemy Asander and died in a naval battle as he attempted to return to his Kingdom of the Bosporus. After this battle, Caesar returned to Rome.
