Summary of the previous part: The Egyptian General Achillas decided to send a message to Julius Caesar in response to his support for Cleopatra: he dispatched an army to annihilate the soldiers of the Roman commander Paulus Forticus who were accompanying him. 

 Paulus Forticus, who was being protected in the sanctuary of Djouqed, witnessed this attack.
