Summary of the previous part: Prince SHING-LOU has just witnessed Julius Caesar's triumph in the streets of Rome. 

 Caesar takes advantage of this moment to tell him that he accepts the proposal of the Chinese Emperor YUANDI, and to seal this relationship, he invites the Prince to a performance taking place the following day.
