This story is inspired by historical events that took place during the Gallic Wars between Julius Caesar and the leader of the Gallic Tribal Alliance, Vercingetorix.

Part 8 : THE MESSENGERS

Summary of the previous part: The Gauls of Alesia, led by Vercingetorix, launched a second attack to break out of the siege created by the Romans.

Despite a Gallic success in breaking down two gates in the fortifications, the Roman techniques for repelling the Gauls had worked.

Faced with the number of Gallic soldiers killed and their failure to advance into the Roman camp, the Gauls returned to the Oppidum of Alesia.

No sooner had they arrived than they saw the Romans firing flaming arrows at the thatched roofs of the Oppidum.

Huts and shelters were set on fire, including one that protected the horses of the Gallic horsemen...
