Part 2: Mobile War machines
Summary of the previous section: The Romans besiege the city of Avaric, the last Gallic city in the area where Caesar's Legions are located that has not been destroyed by Vercingetorix. Indeed, the Gallic leader uses the scorched earth technique to starve the Roman Legions.
Only this one remains within a 100-kilometer radius.
Julius Caesar wants to conquer it without destroying it, to take its supplies and then turn it into a Roman stronghold.
But it is well defended thanks to an impenetrable wall and cliffs that prevent the Romans from entering.
He does not want to use war machines to storm it and instead uses siege towers exclusively.
The first attempt is a failure because the Gauls possess powerful war machines that fire flaming arrows and thus burn the siege towers…
